A Life Update
We bought a house!
This has been a goal of ours for so many years. We have scrimped, saved, and sacrificed so much to get to this point. It has been far from easy.
I wrote at the beginning of the year about being in a waiting phase. At that point, our mortgage had been approved and we were waiting for multiple survey results to come back. The previous house we had made an offer on fell through following a survey, leaving us to begin the search again and our pre-Christmas move to be delayed till 2023.
We were so desperate to be in our own house.
… and now we have the keys.
The first thing people ask when you share the news is “do you have any photos?”
Honestly, I have been reluctant to share them with anyone but have slowly started to. This house has potential. Which is code for - we bought a project.
It’s going to make for some great before and after shots. When it comes to building work, there’s a point where you have to remind yourself: “it gets worse before it gets better.” Even with all the building work we have to do for this house, I don’t think it will get worse. Even with bare plaster and holes in the walls, it already looks so much better.
The Living Room Before
Our living room is L shaped and has a very… interesting decor choice. We have been doing a lot of the preparation for building work in the evenings following our full-time jobs. It has been busy but we have already seen progress.
Every room shares a similar unique decor choice.
Our priorities
The work we need to complete is not all cosmetic. Our priority is upgrading the electrics as we currently have a wire fuse box and most rooms only have one plug socket. In our modern world of connectivity, laptops, mobile phones, and other electronic devices we know this needs to change. With electrical work, we also need a plasterer.
At the moment, I feel like I’m being pulled in all directions and it’s a struggle to show up everywhere. I am hoping to share more as we decorate each room and perhaps also some of the Pinterest finds that are sparking our creativity.
At the moment, everything is a work in progress. I hope you will stick around for the results.
