Capilano Suspension Bridge - Canyon Lights

The 22nd of December was pretty much the perfect day.

Over the Christmas season, Capilano Suspension Bridge puts up Canyon Lights. If you remember Our Vancouver Wishlist, Capilano Suspension Bridge has been one of my top places to visit since before I arrived in Vancouver.

We caught the free shuttle bus from Canada Place up to Capilano. We realised once out how cold it was and on arrival promptly bought hot chocolates to warm us up. My Handsome Man sprinkled nutmeg on the whipped cream and it made the hot chocolate taste like Christmas.

After the hot chocolates we browsed the gift store before stepping out on the Suspension Bridge. The Suspension Bridge is wobbly, but for us it was more so. They kept having to announce not to run on the bridge and not to try to make it wobble. People really didn't seem to be getting the message! It was a daunting height, but knowing the bridge can support the weight of 96 elephants at once was comforting.

                                         

On the opposite side of the bridge, the lights took my breath away. Coloured lights adorned the Christmas trees whilst white lights covered everything else, and it really felt magical.

We then made our way to the Treetops adventure. I must admit that going in the dark, I was more in awe of all the pretty lights than concerned about how high we were from the ground. After the Treetops adventure we also braved the Cliffwalk. The Cliffwalk is a suspended walkway that juts out from the cliff face. It is also lit from below so even in the dark you were aware of the height between you and the Capilano River below. We seemed to miss the areas where only glass separated us from the ground, but we did stand over a grating and looked down at the drop beneath us.

It was cold and raining for most of our trip, but I wouldn't have changed the 22nd for the world. We made good use of the heaters that were dotted around the park. Living in Vancouver means our tickets are season passes so we are hoping to go back in the summer.
