Cherry Blossoms
People told me Spring in Vancouver is beautiful. It is something you really need to experience to fully understand what they mean.
Cherry Blossom Illuminations
After months of Winter rain, with little desire to leave the house without our big yellow umbrella, suddenly the sun shone and the temperatures rose. I persuaded My Ever-patient Handsome Man to come with me and see the Illuminations (part of the Cherry Blossom Festival). We got there for the start time, which was long before it started to get dark. As a result, we missed most of the 'illumination effects'. However, I was able to capture a few shots.
I far prefer photographs of cherry blossoms in their natural colours and lighting.
Cherry Blossom Photo Walk
Trees line the streets of Vancouver, particularly in the suburban residential area where we live. All those trees were now covered with blossoms for as far as the eye can see. It takes your breath away.
I have been sharing photos of blossoms for weeks on my Instagram account. At the same time, I am trying to refrain myself from spamming my followers with photos of flowers.
Each time I walked down the street I kept thinking 'I need to take my camera out and capture this!'
Overnight, it rained and the blossoms were starting to form a carpet under our feet. My Handsome Man reminded me to take a walk with my camera and I knew that if I didn't go out that day, I would miss the beautiful blossoms entirely.
Finally, I wandered up the road with my camera. I paused at every tree to just look and admire the beauty, looking for the right places to take pictures and capture these cherry blossoms forever.
Since taking these photos, the carpet of petals under our feet has disappeared. But friends have started talking with excitement about Vancouver Summers. People talked about the stunning reds of Autumn before I arrived in Canada; it did not disappoint. Neither did the beautiful cherry blossoms of Spring. I can't wait to see Vancouver in Summer.
