The Day We Met Max Landis
My Handsome Man announced that he wanted to go to Golden Age Collectables - a comic book shop in Downtown Vancouver. Max Landis would be there for a signing, celebrating the seventh and final issue of 'Superman: American Alien'.
My Handsome Man missed the first few comics and they are now sold out, he has plans to buy the trade (all seven issues in one book).
Confession: I had no clue who Max Landis was. That's normal in our relationship. My Handsome Man knows the names of all the writers and directors, including information about other films they have made. Whereas, I am lucky if I remember the title of the film!
Aside from writing 'Superman: American Alien', Max Landis has also written several films: 'Chronicle'; 'Victor Frankenstein'; and 'Mr Right' - to name a few.
It was a fun signing. We showed up a little later than originally planned. My Handsome Man had to watch the extra time of the FA Cup Final. Then Manchester United won and we had to watch the presentation of the trophy. We arrived after the middle of the time allocated for the signing. Max Landis spent time with everyone - he'd give advice, chat about anything and everything, film us in a Snapchat message to one of his friends, and even got everyone singing 'I Want it That Way' by Backstreet Boys. The signing went on longer than planned but I don't think anyone minded at all.
Apparently the signing was very much like following him on Twitter or Youtube. He regularly records vlogs giving advice for aspiring writers, giving to his followers a behind the scenes look at what it's like making a living as a writer.
