Our Anniversary

Top of VancouverOne of the items on our wish-list for Vancouver was to dine at Top of Vancouver Restaurant. In all honesty, a lot of things on our wish-list are beyond our budget and so we have had to narrow down our list to our absolute favourites. We have also discovered other ways to spend our time along the way. I thought that dining at Top of Vancouver Restaurant was going to be beyond our budget and we would compromise by viewing the city from the Lookout which is the viewing platform below the restaurant.

My Handsome Man had other ideas.

A few weeks before our anniversary we were asked if we had plans, I said "no" as My Handsome Man said "yes". As our anniversary drew closer, he referenced seeing 'Batman v Superman' followed by A&W Burger several times. He is a film student and, on a student budget, going to the cinema isn't something we can do often. One big thing we miss in Vancouver are our Cineworld cards which made regular cinema trips affordable! Now on every special occasion the cinema is how we celebrate. It makes My Handsome Man happy and I am okay with that.

We saw 'Batman v Superman' and I actually enjoyed it overall, regardless of the negative reviews. My Handsome Man had been seeing if he could go the whole year in Canada without cutting his hair. He got to seven months and could go no longer so our anniversary is also the day he got his hair cut.

I wanted to take photographs of us and of Vancouver. Dane has so few days off without homework calling him. This term has been a lot quieter schoolwork wise so it was nice to be able to spend some time just us without the stress of work he should be doing playing on his mind.0O7A6727I am not always the best at handing over my camera and getting in photographs. I made sure to get some photographs from My Handsome Man's perspective. Each time he uses my camera, he asks questions and gets closer to making the camera do exactly what he wants it to.0O7A67400O7A6743 0O7A6747 0O7A6751 0O7A6760After visiting Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park, he took me to our dinner reservation.

He had timed our reservation perfectly that we arrived just before dusk. We watched as the sun set over Vancouver. We were able to spot buildings we recognised and seemed to constantly be staring out the window at the sunset and the view.

We couldn't understand those who had come to Top of Vancouver and were glued to their mobile phones throughout their meals. We set up our phones to record a time-lapse of the view.

The food was delicious. Each plate that arrived at the table looked like a work of art. Whenever we couldn't decide what to order our waiter made a recommendation and we didn't regret listening to his advice. The food was amazing, the view extraordinary and the celebration of our third wedding anniversary was pretty magical.
