A Week in the Life - Day 4
Day 4: Wednesday
While I ate My Handsome Man started running me a bath, knowing that I would need to soak my aching muscles to help relieve some of the pain. He helped me into the bathroom as I was unsteady on my feet. Without him holding me up I would have fallen several times. I bathed with the door open so that he could be on hand if I needed him.
He has had a productive morning catching up on household chores (laundry, tidying, etc). But with me awake he was able to vacuum without worrying about the noise.
Several hours later I am sick of the sight of my bedroom. It feels like I have been in that room forever and a day. My Handsome Man helps me through to the living room where I curl up on the couch. I don't have the energy to move from that position for the rest of the day. My hands ache, I struggle to hold anything, the pain shoots through my fingers and it feels like I have no grip. My body can't seem to regulate temperature today, I switch between being too hot to too cold every few minutes. My Handsome Man changes movies (Pitch Perfect, ready for the sequel), does all he can to keep me comfortable, brings me drinks and generally helps with all my needs.
In the evening he gets invited to a friend's to watch a football match on television. I know he wants to go but he is anxious about leaving me. I don't have the energy to get out of my pyjamas and go with him, so I send him alone. He surrounds me with things that I might need, makes sure my phone is fully charged so I can contact him if necessary and keeps in regular contact with me throughout the evening to check I am okay. His role as carer doesn't stop, not even for a night out.
