A Week in the Life - Day 4

A week in the life continues with day 4.

Day 4: Wednesday

I would love to write about an incredibly exciting day for today's week in the life post. A day where we go off on an adventure to a local tourist attraction, or a productive day where I cross multiple chores off of my 'to do' list, but that is not what today was. Today I need to acknowledge the amazing man I married and all that he sacrifices to help me on a daily basis.I woke at 8:40am, I normally wake between 8:30 and 9am, today was no different in that respect. However I woke feeling like I had full blown flu. My muscles were dead weights that I could barely move and my head swirled in foggy confusion. On days like this I find the easiest way to manage my symptoms is to try and sleep through them - it doesn't always work, but today was kind in that respect. I ended up sleeping till lunchtime. When I woke, my muscles still ached and they felt weak, My Handsome Man made me lunch and brought it to me in bed. The light streaming through one opened curtain felt too much it was almost painful and took a while to get used to. My eyes ached so I knew it was a day for glasses instead of contact lenses.
Day 4 - Week in the Life

While I ate My Handsome Man started running me a bath, knowing that I would need to soak my aching muscles to help relieve some of the pain. He helped me into the bathroom as I was unsteady on my feet. Without him holding me up I would have fallen several times. I bathed with the door open so that he could be on hand if I needed him.

Day 4 - Week in the Life

He has had a productive morning catching up on household chores (laundry, tidying, etc). But with me awake he was able to vacuum without worrying about the noise.

Day 4 - Week in the Life

He returns to help me out of the bath and back into the bedroom. The exertion from walking that short distance has exhausted me and I lie on the bed, wet, and wrapped in my towel.

Several hours later I am sick of the sight of my bedroom. It feels like I have been in that room forever and a day. My Handsome Man helps me through to the living room where I curl up on the couch. I don't have the energy to move from that position for the rest of the day. My hands ache, I struggle to hold anything, the pain shoots through my fingers and it feels like I have no grip. My body can't seem to regulate temperature today, I switch between being too hot to too cold every few minutes. My Handsome Man changes movies (Pitch Perfect, ready for the sequel), does all he can to keep me comfortable, brings me drinks and generally helps with all my needs.

Day 4 - Week in the Life

In the evening he gets invited to a friend's to watch a football match on television. I know he wants to go but he is anxious about leaving me. I don't have the energy to get out of my pyjamas and go with him, so I send him alone. He surrounds me with things that I might need, makes sure my phone is fully charged so I can contact him if necessary and keeps in regular contact with me throughout the evening to check I am okay. His role as carer doesn't stop, not even for a night out.
