Father's Day Questions

1- Describe your Father

I know I am one of the lucky ones. My Dad has always been there. He tells typical Dad jokes and finds them hilarious. If he's struggling with his asthma and starts laughing, he sounds like Muttley. He falls asleep in front of the T.V. and the rest of the family have to watch the same episode of NCIS at least three times because he keeps sleeping through the ending. He loves golf. He plays the drums in a band. He loves to be involved with stage productions. He has a great sense of humour and I love when he and my Uncle get together. He loves babies and children and they love him. He has always been there to listen and give advice, counsel or comfort.

2- What did / do you and your Father do together?

My Dad has always been involved. Growing up through my teens there were lots of activities that I had the opportunity to take part in. My Dad always drove my friends and I to the events. He would stick around and help out. My house was the house where teenagers would gather, watch movies and chill out. There were also Daddy / Daughter dates, even if they were as simple as a trip down to the local supermarket to choose some treats.

As a child, I would go with him to the rehearsals of his latest stage production. I would watch him rehearse and turn the pages for the pianist.

3- What do you admire most about your Father?

My Dad has always led by example. He is always ready to help others and give to those less fortunate than us. I also don't really remember a time when he got angry or lost his temper.

4- What has your Father taught you?

People are more important than things. He focuses on the person. We loaned a car to a friend and they were involved in a car accident. When he received the phone call about the crash, he didn't care about the car, my Dad's only question was checking if the person was okay.

5- Describe a memory with / about your Father that makes you smile.

My Dad read a book by Stephen R. Covey. He decided to tell us (his children) about the book, in which Covey relates a story where his son got bored waiting for him to finish a business call and decided to spread peanut butter on Covey's bald head. As the call continued, his son added a layer of jam and a piece of bread.

On hearing this story, my younger brother thought this would be fun to try, so he slapped peanut butter covered bread on my Dad's bald head - to the enjoyment of everyone watching. Unfortunately my Dad has more hair than Stephen Covey and he had to take a shower and wash his hair to clean off the peanut butter.
